Ceiling Panels Before starting
- Please note the mouldings are for indoor use only and should not be in direct contact with water.
- Possible faults in the material can only be claimed back if noticed before fitting!
- We do not recommend using ceiling panels along with ceiling heating.
- The same production range has common large surfaces.
- Room temperature and moisture has to be normal. Room’s temperature should be approx 20˚C and air’s relative humidity approx 40%. Basically this means that the walls and ceiling should be dry and the doors and windows should be glazed.
- Panels should not be subjected to over 110°C continues heat.
- Before fitting, you should leave the panels to acclimatise for 72 hours in the room where it is to be fitted.. It is enough to open the ends of the packaging so that the possible humidity is released.
Base
- Distance between joists should be approximately 400 mm or smaller, so that the ceiling will not start to “slouch”. Thickness of the joists 45mm x 45mm (min 20x40mm)
- Ensure that there is an adequate airflow behind the panels. If necessary remove the lower panelling or assemble reverse panelling.
- Ensure that the lower panelling is straight, regardless whether the ceiling is uneven or not.
Assembly
- We recommend using a pressure staple gun for assembling panels. Use a staple that is at least 22mm long, 9mm wide and 1.6mm thick.
- Staple is shot diagonally into the lower lip of the groove.
- The staple has to go in at the same level with the groove, so the panels can be fixed together. The staple must not sink deep into the groove as the panel will not fix in properly.
- Leave 10-15mm expansion gap between wall and the panels. The joint will be covered with coving /cornice.
Assembly hint • You can make patterns to your ceiling by placing the panels in any desired order. By placing end seams you can make patterns on your ceiling.
Safety instructions • Do not attach lighting or other heavy objects to the panelling, these should be installed directly to the mounting base.
